IE9 locks up computer after change in font size

I have a HP 500 Slate that I recently changed the ssd drive from 64gb to 128gb. The tablet ran faster and smoother. I was browsing the web the other day and I decided to change the font size in IE9. There did not appear to be a problem as I continued to surf the web. Today after starting up the computer and IE9, the computer locked up completely. There is a cont-alt-del button and that would not even work. After running chkdsk and fixing a few areas, I restarted the computer and IE9 and locked again. The computer ran fine as long as I did not start IE9. So I reset IE9 and all is well. It's just seems strange that just changing font size would cause the lockup. Virus scans and Malwarebytes found nothing.

That sounds like a problem in IE 9 itself. During the beta stage and shortly after 9 was released I found myself downloading and reinstalling IE 9 to see any problems corrected.

The solution is not as easy since you will need a second browser installed in order to uninstall the present IE 9 upgrade over if you did upgrade over 8. Once IE is totally removed you proceed with the installation of the downloaded copy for a fresh go at 9.

By changing font size I assume that raising the view setting up from 100% to say 125% which one problem here not having the Favorites bar open and moved over to the left side is how to save the 125% setting. In IE 8 if IE was closed and a new window opened it would remember the 125% setting without the Favorites open.

Lately the only thing noticed would be IE 9 stalling and having to refresh itself or simply closed. Your problem could also be update related. A fresh install from a download will bring you back to Square #1 however where prompts for IE updates will be seen for those already presently on.
