Solved IE9 - No Flash

Hi all:

I just installed IE9 and I keep getting a notice to install Adobe Flash Player.
I install Flash Player, try again, same message.
Before you ask, I installed both the 32 & 64 bit versions of the browser and the Flash Players- to no avail.

The same videos at YouTube and other sites work on my other browsers.
They will not work using IE9.

Any settings I should be looking at?

Try the flash beta 10.3's.

Youtube vids work OK for me in IE9 with them installed.

OK- installed the BETA version of AFP (v10.3).
I checked Manage Add-Ons and it is enabled.
I re-booted, just in case, still no go...

I get this when I go to Youtube:

Under the Safety options make sure "ActiveX Filtering" is NOT checked.

ok i just found the solution for all 64 bit computers to make flash work on latest IE9 download and install active-x for 64 bit windows from adobe site.

BTW you can opt to use html5 rather than flash to play most youtube videos here - YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

The "Square" flash is only for 64 bit browsers. If you're using the 64 bit IE9, yeah you need it for flash videos, but the regular Flash 10.2, 10.3 Beta is for the 32 bit browsers. So it depends on if you're using either the 32 or 64 bit browser. Not just if you're system is 64 bit.

They do of course, but the "Square flash" is only given for the 64 bit browser. If you only run a 32 bit browser, you only need the 32 bit regular Flash, not the "Square" version. If you use both 32 and 64 bit browsers, you could install both the regular flash and the "Square" version one. Think of it as the bit version browser, not bit version Operating System.

This is the only thing that has worked for me, thank you so much. Had I known of this I'd have instantly switched over to the html5 trial.

Before doing this, IE9, and FF4, both would not play flash video, but only at youtube, although the only other site I tested was google video, which did work.

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling flash, and flash square. The problem started in IE9, I right away went over to FF*32 to see if the problem was there as well and it was.

No matter what video I select, it just displays a black solid color, no information, no attempt whatsoever at loading anything, at all. I've never seen anything like this, and it absolutely happened entirely at random just about 45 minutes ago.

Update: The HTML5 option is working in Firefox 4, nothing I've done has fixed IE9.
Update 2: I finally solved the issue, for now, lets see if it holds out. For some reason, switching over to the HTML5 option, even though it didn't work for IE9, then, completely removing all Adobe software, then, installing flash square, and then, normal flash player, finally it works. I switched back to flash from HTML5 and all is well, and after a reboot. Also, it only worked in that order, I'd done all of this a number of times, strange.

Hi all,

I also experienced this issue, and it's normally an easy fix.

Click the cog/gear symbol (Tools) in the top right of the browser (or Alt+X) and select "Manage add-ons" from the drop-down menu which appears.

From the list which appears, ensure that "Shockwave Flash Object" is set to "Enabled".
