When trying to open a link in new tab opens a blank page. Link will not open when selecting open in new window. Link will only open when left-clicking on link. All links open properly when using Firefox browser. :(

That is not my problem. My problem is that when you right-click on a link and click on "open in new tab", the tabbed page that opens is blank. When you right-click on a link and click on "open in new page", nothing happens. In order to open a link you have to left-click on the link and this open into the same page. That means you can't have both the original page and the link opened at the same time.

It does seem like something is wrong with IE. I'd try a reset: Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Reset"

I have already tried that, and it did not solve the problem.

Have you tried to uninstall/reinstall IE 9 ? Could AV settings be the cause ?

I haven't tried uninstall/install yet. I will give that a try. To what AV settings are you referring?

I think, in this instance AV=antivirus. :)

Correct, I was referring to your antivirus (AV) settings.

I too have just started having this problem. Perhaps an update is causing the issue?

Any time I right click a link and select "open in new tab", the new tab opens up but refuses to load the page. The page is blank, the tab is blank.

This just started happening to me today and so far Google searches seem to be turning up nothing helpful.

Also, right clicking and selecting "open in new window" gets me nowhere. A new window doesn't open, nothing happens. Javascript pop-ups don't seem to be working either.

That is precisely what my problem was. I uninstalled IE9 and tried to reinstall it. The install failed to complete. Even Windows Updatewould not istall it. I am now using IE8, and I am experiencing the same problems with IE8 as I did with IE9. I am completely out of possible solutions, and I cannot get any results from any of the suggestions I have found on Google or this Forum. I am now using Firefox as my default browse and am not experiencing any problems. However, I would like to find a solution to repair IE.

Hmmm.

Well it's not a user account problem as I created a new profile, logged on with that and the problem persisted.

I forgot I have a 64 bit IE on my PC as well. It seems to work fine with the problem limited to the 32 bit version of IE.

I tried all the suggestions and I still have the problem. I switched browsers to Google Chrome, and all the links and pages work with this browser.

...But I'd read the whole page before trying anything....
Did that and it led me to this page: Internet Explorer FAQ - Repair IE8 (IE7) and IE9

At first this fix didn't work and I was about to give up all hope, then I read about one crucial point - don't run IE between booting the computer and running this script.

Reboot computer
<Do not launch IE>
Run this script as an administrator
Reboot computer

I am now able to open a link in a new tab as well as in a new window. Pop ups work OK too now.

Can you get a process monitor log of the problem occurring? Download/run procmon (it starts logging immediately when launched), reproduce the issue, and go back to procmon and save the log (defaults are fine). 7zip or RAR the resulting .pml log file somewhere, and we can have a look.
