IE9 Question

I currently use Opera 11.50 as my default browser, but keep IE9 on my PC for certain websites that don't "play nice" with Opera.

Although IE9 seems to be much-improved over previous versions, there's still a few things that annoy me; one being when I hover my pointer over a link, a white box pops up in the lower left corner with the link's web address. I've been searching in the tools menu for a way to turn it off, but couldn't find any.

Anyone know if it's possible???

this only occurs when the status bar at the bottom of the browser is turned off. Right clik an empty space next to the home icon and turn on the status bar, there is also a setting in the internet options concerning what to do when you hover over a link....

I turned off the status bar in order to get rid of the links. So now instead of showing up in the status bar, it shows up in it's own white box. Ugh....wish I could turn it off. Also wish I could move the favorites button back to left side, but that's another thread for another time.

Why can't Microsoft give us options??? :(

This way the bad guys can get to you if you are not aware..

If you don't mind activating the Menu bar, that will give you your Favourites on the left-hand side of the display.

Totally agree with Rich. Stargazer, I would think you would WANT to know the actual source of the link you think you're opening! More often than not, one of the ways that SPAM and VIRUSES get into your system is by putting false names as the source and then luring you into clicking onto their links. Gotta be careful. These days these folks are a lot smarter, more technologically savvy, and cagier than they used to be!!!

The reasons I went back to using IE as my main browser are the security enhancements and the ability to customize what is on screen.
