Sorry that I was not clear. I was asking if you could tell if the computer had restarted on its own (and thus closed all of your apps).

If your normal user account has no password and if there is only one user account, then Windows goes straight to the desktop without asking you to pick another user account (because there are not other user accounts) and without entering a password (because there is no password).

So... what I was wondering: did the computer restart after being idle for hours? (thus closing your apps)

The Windows logs should show each restart.

Of course, if you have a password or multiple user accounts, you can easily tell if the computer has restarted.

Sorry for the late reply.
My normal user account has no password and it has only one user account.
I am confusing to search about whether it is restarted or not. What is a event ID for search it?

But 1st time I tried it with different settings (Turn off the display: ..... min) and Then I saw after idle time it show log on screen and then after clicking log on , lost opening programs.

Thank you.

It does sound like the computer is restarting.

Event ID 13 is shutdown and Event ID 12 is start up.

id.PNG

If you find those events, take note of the time and look around that same time in the other logs.

Glad that it worked out for you.

Are you using MSE in place of Norton?

You can install MSE any time that you wish. It will use fewer resources than Norton.

It's ok. I will do it.
But, I already put a program to run. It will take some days to finish. Because of strict deadline of my research I want to wait until finish it.
After I get the results of my running program I will do it and let you know the details.
Sorry for my late and thank you very much for replying me.

I do agree with UsernameIssues.
I also recommend using Microsoft Security Essentials when needed for troubleshooting Microsoft Windows 7.
Microsoft plays well with Microsoft.
When the problems are solved one can choose what ever anti virus program they so desire and see if the problems return.
I call that troubleshooting/testing.

If Norton is the problem I'm sure Praveen from Norton's will be glad to help.

Sorry for the late reply.
I installed Norton again. Then it gave same problem as previous.
After 3 1/2 hours (nearly) of idle time it gave blue screen and automatically restarted the computer. Then this restarting is happened several times again and again.
Now I uninstalled the Norton and installed another anti virus software. Now computer is ok.
I posted these information to further help for other users.
Thank you.
