Im screwed :(

while trying to fix the problem i posted in my last post about changing the rar extension back to Default i changed it to the following:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\shell32.dll

and now i cant change it back! :shock:

there is no change option
this seems to be the only problem on my comp right now
i would really like to fix this

I am not sure what you are really referring to. You changed C:\WINDOWS\system32\shell32.dll to what?

If anything you can do a system restore to your last point.

If you change shell32.dll, your computer basically becomes unusable. Or do you mean you set RAR folders to open with shell32?

just install 7zip and let it take ownership of the .rar file type.

I concur with ccatlett1984. And, you should quit tweaking in the manner you have been using. The error of selecting shell32.dll as a default option for opening anything indicates that you were way off base. You are not grasping the concept at a low level. If you learned anything in your original mistake, you forgot the lesson when you did it the next time.

And you should not be offended by this advice. This forum can be used for learning, but sometimes the lesson required is not the knowledge sought.
