Image files corrupt?

I don't know what's happened, but the majority of my pictures on my computer have become unviewable and their file names are replaced with the same name but have a "._ in front of them. What happened? Is there any way to undo this?

Two things I would do. Right click the file and select Open With... and pick your image viewer. If that doesn't work try a different image viewer, irfanview is light and powerful.

Secondly, I would do a full scan with MBAM, in case it is malware behind this.

On the BleepingComputer site use the button that looks like this,

You can use these free tools to see if they find anything,
Manually Update them before running full scans,
Try not to use your computer while the scans are running, (one at a time of course).

Also use the Custom scan option not the Threat scan,

Files beginning with "._" are a convention of the OS X operating system. They're 'resource forks', little metadata files like Windows has .ini files, though "._" files are quite more abundant on OS X compared to .ini files on Windows.

Thed00d88, do you recall using the operating system recently?

You should be able to open "._" files in a text editor and see the string "Mac OS X" in plain text near the top.
