Image Restore Error

I get a failure notice when I try to restore from the image saying that I don't have a valid drive to restore to.

I am imaging from a 500 Gig and trying to restroe to a 750 Gig that I am putting into to replace the 500.


Ghost 14 is not compatible with Windows 7.

Just a little follow-up info:

I am using the same computer only trying to upgrade the HD.

I am using Windows 7 Pro RTM (Legitly).

I don't want to go through having to rebuild everything from scratch again.

I am putting the 500 in my camera monitoring system.

I have taken the following 3 steps so far: 1) I've created identical partitions on the 750 to match the 500 2) I've deleted all partitions 3) I have ghosted the Windows 7 partitions to these partitions (setup old Vista Drive and imaged the Windows 7 partitions).

No luck so far.

I am getting a failure notice while trying to restore to a new HD (going from a 500 to a 750).

The message tells me that I don't have a valid HD to restore to.

The image is on a 1.5 TB and the primary disk is the 750.

Any ideas?

I have tested Acronis True Image and have never had a problem in Windows 7.

This is the step where it starts the image restore process.

When it starts it tells me that I don't have a valid disk, yet the disk shows is a window where you can exclude any hard drives that you don't want to be used for the restore. This window isn't shown in the tutorial for some reason. The drive I want to restore to is not excluded and is listed.

Success

I have the answer to my problem.

Unfortunately for Microsoft, it isn't the answer, at least not yet.

Macrium Reflect Free is small (compared to others) and it worked first time without a hitch, and it's FREE!!!.

I didn't have to reactivate even.

Yes, is the answer to your question. for 50 MB to 320GB and other sizes also. GLAD you found a FREE bee that works.

This is just a follow-up. I have tested Macrium Reflect on different machines and it has worked flawlesly.

I can even open the images to get at data from other machines.

I discovered that my main machine was set up as GPT (not by choice). It doesn't support this format. Guess I'll have to reformat and reinstall this one.

It will also save to network locations.

Have to buy it to get the automatic backing up.

It's got some good compression and I am happy with it.

Time to buy.
