I am running XP mode on my windows 7 machine. I have installed Quicken 2004 on the guest machine. I plan to install Banktree on the host and import the Quicken data to it. I gather the data has to be moved directly between the two programs - Banktree will not accept Quicken data that has been backed up. How can I get a program on the host machine to communicate with a program on the guest please?

Hi there
The easiest way IMO is to share the data folder - so run the program to CREATE the data on one machine QUICKEN on VM and use the other program on the other machine your HOST machine to ACCESS the data created by QUICKEN.

Ensure the QUICKEN program has run first before starting up BANKTREE on your HOST machine. Accessing Open files is NOT a good idea as the directory can get hosed up.

When Quicken has finished it will close the files so you can then access them on the HOST safely.

Simple file sharing between GUEST and HOST should fix this.

Follow this thread about sharing files in XP mode.

Thanks Jimbo,
I can't try this straightaway but I will give it a go in the New Year. Meantime, seasons greetings!
