Hi,
I want to move my contacts from my outlook wxpress email to
my windows 7 computer that has hotmail.
I extracted my contacts in oe and put on my desktop.
I go back to hotmail and try to import and only have 2choices
microsoft outlook cvs or hotmail, don't I need[ wildblue and desktop]to import from?
I'm trying to import from an XP computer in basement.
Both computers have wildblue server.

Well I had a play and all I can tell you is that you can only import from csv files or Hotmail, which I presume Hotmail would be contacts your exported from a hotmail account.

First I exported from Mozilla Thunderbird to csv and Hotmail told me the file was empty, but after a play I found if I filled in the "First Name" field in a spread sheet application then they would import. I could have also done this in Thunderbird but a spread sheet was easier to copy one column, Display Name, to another column, First Name, but a spread sheet can make the csv file incompatible with the standard csv format if you change to much.

The next problem was when I edit the contact via hotmail the name is the only field that was imported.

So I can only presume this has got something to do with the field names that hotmail recognises compared to the fields that are exported in Outlook Express and other e-mail apps.

I only have a Display Name and E-Mail addresses for my contacts and can't tell you what fields would be imported or not. As for the e-mail my Thunderbird csv only has Primary and Secondary fields but I did not test the secondary field to see if thats imported.

Hope this gives you something to work with.

Thought I'd take another quick look to see if I could give you some more advice.

First I should have addressed this better in my first post. Hotmail can only import from what it has been designed to work with and you can see the services/programs when you go to import. I think Oulook csv would be your best option. To import the csv file just click browse when your on the page that gives you the Microsoft Outlook cvs or Hotmail choices and select your file.

Now to cover more of what I said in my first post.
I'm working with Thunderbird but I created a new contact and filled out every available field except the photo with easy to identify info, eg. First Name = First, Address = 1 Address St, Work Address = 1 WorkAddress St, I then imported it to hotmail. When I edited that contact only half the fields were imported and there email addresses were not one of them.

As I said I'm working with Thunderbird and Hotmail was designed to import from Outlook so maybe Outlook and Outlook Express are similar in their field names, so I suggest you try doing that to see if the required info is imported. If not you could download a trial version of Outlook and see if importing and exporting from that makes a different otherwise I can't see any other option other than manually entering the info.
