Impossible to search for new updates

I have this new PC - running on Windows7 -since November 9, 2009. The latest update which was registered was on Nov 19. Since then I always get this error message "Impossible to search for new updates". I also get "code 80072EE2.... (an error occured when searching for new updates for your computer)" but my internet works fine. I am administrator on my PC but, apparently, I can't change the settings for Windows Updating! The settings are that I have to confirm the search for and installation of updates.
Does anyone have a clue?

Even if other 3p network programs work fine it is not equivalent your system accept your internet connection.

A noob is shorthand for noobie which means someone new to a particular subject who has little knowledge and even less experience in that subject. They usually make it obvious that they are a noobie by the type of questions they ask.
