Solved Improve wifi signal range.

Hi, am struggling to pick up wifi signals around the house with my Xperia Play. I am looking to improve router signal strength, the router isn't the problem but it is the only way to improve signal. I have done the obvious, moved stuff around (including router), checked cordless phones frequency, am just looking to increase its range but am not sure how as the antennas are internal.

What router? 802.11 b,g,n?

If one specific area isnt covered you may be able to increase range by either an "induction" antenna, a repeated or second router, or an "N" router if yours isnt already.

Its a n router but I have tried and no signal improvement, yes improved on computers but not my phone

You can pickup wireless gateways and or access points to daisy chain the signal around the house.

Sorry am not with you, I can't get another router (WAP) as my line is very unstedy (am not looking to mess with it) am just looking how to improve the signal with the router. (am just saying am not trying to be rude)

one way to increase signal is to add a reflector to either the router or device antennas, or both.

a simple aluminum foil & cardboard corner reflector can easily be added to a router antenna (or similar to a usb wifi dongle). worth trying before going down a more elaborate route. point the inside of the corner towards the other device. if the router doesn't have external antennae, you can still make a larger reflector & set the whole router inside the corner. be creative. also google 'wifi antenna reflector' for more ideas.
