Hi folks, still trying to connect my thinkpad to win7. I found this Configuring Incoming Connections - Windows 7 Tutorial

But using netsh ras show activeservers, I get none :( which probably explains why win7 is not ansing the "phone".

Phone in quotes, as I'm using a null modem wire.

Objective: connect win98se to win7 sp2, via a nullmodem cable, to share the internet.

I suspect you won't find much help. A nullmodem cable is like ancient tech replaced by newer tech. I doubt most in this day and age have used a nullmodem setup. I know I haven't even tho I work in networks for a living, but all my stuff....modern to say the least. Doesn't help that most new computers do not even have old serial or parallel ports anymore.

Well thanks for your reply, but I'm stuck with this thing, no usb, eth or anything else useful like a cdrom or floppy!!

I can connect to a linux box, over ppp. you don't perchance know what "chat" dialog win98se exspects do you. When tring to do the same thing in linux, I get in the logs "Unrecognised responce" you see we are talking, just a language problem.

If I could get that sorted, I'd run linux, in a VM
