Prior to the inception of windows 7 I purchased a 3in1 Photo/film/slide scanner which was compatible with XP & Vista. the item is aN SVP PS9000 although that maybe the vendors name for it. I now run windows 7 and find this is incompatible. Could someone suggest where I can get an updated driver for it. I yhave contacted the vendor, who doesnt know. I have also tried to find a driver on the internet without success:cry:

Can´t find it here, but I do not think the name is a recognised manufacturer ( the vendor appears genuine and has a good reputation on ebay and to be fair only admits it to be vista compatible. Other people are now selling this device as windows 7 compatible (albeit the name of the machine is different) but it appears to be the exact same device. The research I have done indicates that these are made in china and whoever buys them call it by their own name, so there is no way of getting anything that way. Bit of a blind alley really, just hoped that someone may have come across the problem before. Tyanks for you help though

The scanner seems to be from:

Silicon Valley Peripherals

(May be a distributor, rather than a manufacturer.)

They have downloads, but I see nothing for the PS-9000.

I'd expect Vista software/drivers to work, though.

Yeah, unfortunately that support page doesn't look very supportive. I see no driver for the scanner as well. Nor is there any information given on any of the drivers? posted there. Hmmm

Have tried compatibility but device not listed and don´t know the correct path. When I plug the device in I get the message "driver installed correctly" but the device does not show in "my computer" If I look in devices & printers. There is a hyphen against a usb camera icon. If I click on that icon, it refers to an "ovt scanner" when I run the trouble shooter, it advises that "ovt has a driver problem and needs to be installed. I try to update the driver and I am advised that the latest driver is installed. One of the error messages says the device cannot start code 10.

help again!

Would you mind posting a screen shot of your USB devices in device manger expanded view?
Then if you have a yellow exclamation point next ot one of the devices hopefully the ovt camera one, you could try downloading the vista driver for your scanner to your desktop> extract if needed>stop>click on properties>compatibility>drop down menu select Vista>check the box at the bottom run in compatibility mode.

Then go to the device in the device manager click on update driver software>:browse my computer>let me choose> have disk> navigate to the driver folder on your desktop>run the setup.exe file.

If this doesen't work you can try following the same method only when you get to the end instead of running the setup.exe file click or double click the .inf file. and see if this will make a difference.
Fabe

The problem is "finding" a driver. Can't find the manufacturer or driver for the item. The closest we came was here.... Silicon Valley Peripherals

I think I asked this before, but did you not get a manual with that machine? Does it not have a contact number or website for support?

That's not really telling anything. You're going to have to find the company that makes that scanner and see if they have drivers for it for Windows 7. Do you know who makes the scanner? Surly it is printed on the owner's manual or the item itself?

Hi everyone who has tried to help.

I just had a flash of inspiration. One thing I didnt mention is that my new system was 64bit. On looking at the driver disc, there were 2 drivers, one for 64bit and one for 32bit. I must have been loading the 64bit driver. I have just downloaded the 32bit and everything appears to be working now. Thanks for trying to help, it at least got me thinking lateraly and helped me sort it..feliz fiestas :)

Would have been nice to know you had a disk with drivers. Been asking about that since the first page.

Anyways glad to hear you figured it out and got it working.
