Incorrect Index Searches

Sometimes when I’m updating files that happen to reside in my user folder, the same folder that’s indexed on my Windows 7 machine, I’ll notice that the indexing engine doesn’t always pick up the last time it was actually modified. It’s kind of spotty actually, sometimes it’ll pick it up and sometimes it won’t. Why is that and is there anything I can do to improve the authenticity of my searches, kind of like an Indexing Best Practices?

Indexing is not a quick proposition. One or two small edited files should update pretty quickly but if your editing a large, or several large files, it could take some time.
To improve your search reliability, knowledge is power. Learning the syntax language and understanding boolean searches goes a long way in making Windows work for you.

I know the Windows Explorer Search syntax pretty well but sometimes when a file is updated and then saved, it doesn’t pick up the new modified date and time. And in those cases, I’ve noticed it never picks it up, not even hours later, so it’s like it skips over it.
