I want to install a new windows 7 here ^^^ on the first partition, it's an old ext4 partition and anything of use has been extracted and saved away. Now I want to use win7 until I can't, then I'll jump back on some linux for a while until I look at how win10 can be totally closed down from phoning out without good reason.

Now, will this work fine? Will the installer want to name it C: too causing problems?

I can't Clean Boot into this one I have right now, if you see my last posts regarding my CheckSUR results, my winupdates and .NET packages complete destruction and inability to even reinstall them by trying to install windows updates when KB4474491 completely failed on me, had a 2 hours reverting changes boot screen and then well, there's over a million errors in that checksur.

It's a march 2019 slipstreamed iso of windows 7 x64 ultimate, it works just fine, I've tried it on my older desktop and it's fine. I'm just not sure if I'll get the windows boot-manager allow me to get back into this current 4th partition install, I won't be feeling like reinstalling everything on that partition just right away, so I'll need to get back into this partition. Everything's backed up in multiple ways. I'm good to go.

Should work from what I've read, but I thought I'd ask here too.

Alright, I booted up with the usb stick, a difficult feat, since the EFI takes over, I have to boot by the usb stick through the BIOS to boot straight from the usb stick. I've gotten a powerful desktop just before EFI became a thing, my mobo is compatible, but so far it's only causing issues.

Now, when I get to the screen where I select the partition of the drive, it says I can't use it, that it is not NTFS...uh yeah it is, win7 sees it as so in the broken install I'm running now. I made the partition with Minitools Partition Wizard Tech Edition, something that never let me down. But now I'm reading about people who get the same problem, being told the partition is not NTFS even if it is, and the Format button being greyed out..like what? Apparently the fact there was Linux Mint there before is a factor. So I formatted it to NTFS while in Windows 7, again, using the normal windows tool to do so by selecting the partition which now shows up as I: , right click, properties, tools, format. I did a Quick Format, but I hear doing what I just did does the trick. Still I think the presence of a win7 on the same drive can be problematic, I could take care of all that, and install it on a different drive, but one of my three internal hard drives is an old (impossible to kill) 200gb WD drive, it's got black lettering but I don't think that mattered back then in december 2004 when I ordered it at the computer shop.
