Solved Install error MS Office2003 compatibility pack error

Office on-line suggested posting here. I can't install compatibility pack for office '03. I get an error accessing registry key UNKNOWN\component\DA42BC89BF25FD0AF etc. No such key found with Registrar. Tried clean boot,run as administrator,runassystem.exe-FileFormatConverterss.exe with same result. Thank you in advance for any help.

I couldn't find any real help there. I should have mentioned though I had office 2003 previously installed with compatibility pack. After uninstalling it I used MS Fixit utilities for removing Office '03, 07, and 2010 followed by several different registry cleaner scans.

Do you have itunes installed. If you do then this website may help as there is reference to your UNKNOWN registry error.

I'm almost certain that was the problem, but I had already done a Win 7 repair install. (I waited to long to use System restore and the restore points were to recent. The first thing I was required to do before the Windows install would run is UN-install iTunes.

At least you have it repaired even though you ended up doing a reinstall.
