I am currently using Internet Explorer 8 (32Bit) with Adobe Reader x(10.1.1), Flash Player 32Bit, Shockwave 11.6 and Java 32Bit

Everything works well

At the Windows Update Site I am currently offered Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems

If I install IE9 what difficulties might I encounter?

During Install is there an Option to Install 32Bit so that my current Add-ons would continue to work ok?

Or should I stay with IE8 (32Bit)?

When you install IE9 both 32-bit and 64-bit versions will be installed on your system. Where it says "for 64x based systems" means that is the install packege for 64-bit Windows. It wouldn't work for 32-bit Windows, and the 32-bit version probably wouldn't work on 64-bit Windows.

All of your add-ons, favorites, and favorites bar should migrate to IE9 in both 32 and 64 bits versions. you may need to install 64 bit Java, if you use it.

It's far 'cleaner' and more streamlined than v8 was, but it can be tricky getting your search provider preferences set up as you would like them (unless you're a huge fan of Bing...) :p

Thanks, I'll bear that in mind, I have Bing but never use it, prefer Google

Simply set google as your default and you'll be fine. It's not that hard - Tools > Manage Add-Ons > Search Providers.
