install of windows 7

hi im trying to re install windows 7 to a sata hdd. i have the hdd out of the laptop and plugged into another one via a sata usb cable. question is can i install win onto it using this? or does it have to be in its won computer to do this?

Do you mean to say you have the drive in an external cage ?

Or is this what you`re trying to use ?

You can not install windows 7 over usb, although some claim they have.

Why is the drive not in the computer ?

similar cable to that i took it out because i thought i could do the install via that, seeing as i had one already. i cant seem to do anything using the other lappy now if i try it always comes up with the comos reset indicator light just cant seem to work it right

Well then either buy a new battery and re place it or just reset the bios to default settings.

Re setting the bios, you can do yourself. If you don`t know how, just ask.

is it possible to do that with using that adaptor? coz i cant boot it at all using the other lappy sadly.

No, disconnect that adaptor, you`ll get nowhere with it.

It doesn`t have to boot. Does the laptop even power on ?

Do you see the manufacturer or bios splash screen ?
