Install on E: drive without removing infected files from other drives

I want to install Windows 7 on my E: drive without removing data and WinXP installation already present on the other two drives. Will the new Windows 7 installation get infected? Or is it possible to install antivirus and firewall as soon as Windows 7 is installed and thus prevent infection?

It depends entirely on the malware. The best thing to do is clean up the malware.

Install MSE and Malwarebytes on the XP drive and clean it up.

Post a shot of disk management from XP before you start.

And what do you mean by E drive ? Is it actually another hard drive or just another partition on your current hard drive with XP ?

If the other drive isn't bootable and you suspect it is infected then you can scan it with a boot disk provided in Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start or delete the partitions during the reinstall after rescuiing any needed data as also shown in tutorial. Be sure to scan the data with Malwarebytes and your AV.

So I did it anyway and it worked.
E: is just another partition on the disk
Installed avast and comodo firewall on the fresh windows, scheduled boot scan and it cleaned everything

I would not use Avast which is now considered buggy bloatware, or any other firewall than the Win7 firewall which is perfected and provides best performance.
