I have XP SP3 32bit right now. tried installing win7 64 and got the "setup is not a valid win32 application" thing

which is understandable.. so I burned it onto a DVD and the DVD doesnt boot. yes I have the drive set to boot before the HD

so my question is, the setup.exe is supposed to be in the root directory of the DVD right? asking because mine came in a "expandedsetup" folder. and I didnt burn that folder on, just the contents within (all 3gb)

All of my systems still run fastest on XP 32-bit for the most part. Win7 is fun to play with, but I still prefer XP for raw speed, security, and functionality.
is the file "win7-hp-retail-en-us-x64" supposed to be on the dvd?

I burned it with the iso like that link said to do. when I reboot and its reading the DVD the system locks up. I cant think of anything I did wrong besides if that file should be there

No I don't believe so.

Try the tutorial again from scratch. SIW2's guide should work for you so long as you follow it closely.
