Do you setup the new HD first.

Hello felycitylau, welcome to Seven Forums!

I would suggest using the Partition Wizard Boot Disk (PWBD) to wipe the Hard Disk Drive instead of the other software; then boot the XP CD to do the installation after the wipe completes and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

Have a look at Option Three of this tutorial at the link below for an outline of the process.

Partition Wizard : Use the Bootable CD

First download the PWBD ISO file to the desktop, be sure to get the PWBD and not the installed version; scroll down to see the download link for the bootable CD ISO file at this link below.

Partition Wizard Free Bootable CD

Then use ImgBurn to burn the ISO to a CD, at no greater than 4x speed with a verify; it was designed for use and works best from a CD rather that a DVD then boot the created CD to make the changes.

If your laptop wireless works with Vista then it will work with Win7. Give us your Toshiba model number and we will find the driver for you to load after Win7 reinstall.

Put the Win7 DVD in the drive, shut down and restart the computer, start tapping the F12 key to get a BIOS Boot Menu, select DVD drive to boot, Press Any key when prompted to boot DVD.

Follow these illustrated steps to clean install Win7: Clean Install Windows 7

If you receive any failures or error messages, post back the exact wording of the error message.

If the DVD does not detect a HD, reinstall the old HD to try this process. DO NOT attempt to boot into HD, you only want to boot into the DVD.

There are several models for that Toshiba. Find yours here and select from the dropdown menu Win7 drivers and LAN to get the download for your driver. Put it on a stick or CD and install immediately after WIn7 install to get online to get the rest of your drivers via optional Windows Updates. Toshiba Support - Homepage

Hi Felicity,

Did you drop it before this happened?

There are a couple of things you can try.

Check your bios settings - tho it is probably already set to usb first , HD second - if not, change it.

If it is , then you can try giving it a sharp tap or a good squeeze on the bottom where the HD is - not too hard - you don't want to break anything.

Ultimately, take it to a pc shop and get them to check the HD is connected properly.

HD is not being detected. Can you try swapping the other HD back in to see if what error it gives now?

I understand it fails to see the new HD, but when you put the old HD back in do you get the same error, which means it cannot detect HD?

Tap the key at boot to enter BIOS setup, see if the HD registers there. Try both HD's, check that the connection is good and HD is fully inserted.

i install new hdd and after that i boot win xp cd.
after it is ran the error appear and restart and boot again and the code appear same as the old hdd

Make sure you are installing the HD correctly as shown in this video:

Next boot into BIOS Setup by pressing the key given on first boot screen to see if your HD is registering. You have not replied to this step which has now been given repeatedly.

If you cannot perform the troubleshooting steps, I would take it to a shop.

thank you for the video.
but i think this toshiba laptop is copyright by toshiba company so i need a cd to reboot the bios
