I hope this question is trivial, but I will ask for safety sake.

In this thread:

http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/171565-unknown-files-c-drive-help-please.html

the OP was advised to delete a series of files similar in name to install.res.1049.dll. Brink explained that they are 'orphan files' from an installation of Visual Studio 9.0 or Microsoft Visual C++ 2008.

In addition to the files listed by the OP for the above thread, I also found 'install.res.1049.dll.' Can I conclude that it, too, can be deleted safely, given its similarity to the others?

I did a Google Custom search of sevenforums for 'install.res.1049.dll.' The URL below is the only hit. It is 10 pages long. I checked each page and searched for res.1049.dll and didn't find it.

Is it different from the collection of similarly named files that Brink suggests are detritus from a messy installation of Visual Studio 9.0 or Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 or is it safe for me to treat it like the others?

Since posting, I found this hit in Google regarding eula.1049.txt.

https://docs.google.com/viewer?pid=...kCMBqnRUfeLUnjy&a=v&rel=rar;r13;eula.1049.txt

The text file is in Cyrillic, the Russian alphabet. In all likelihood it is just one of the many eula files that accompany Visual Studio 9.0 or Microsoft Visual C++ 2008.

That tells me it is no more significant than the eula.1028.txt mentioned specifically in Brink's reply to ethanj1993 in 2011.

thanks,
