Solved Install-Update-Sysprep vs Slipstream Updates

Does anyone have any experience using the sysprep procedure detailed here to create an updated install image? If so, any known drawbacks vs slipstreaming updates to a mounted install.wim with DISM?

I have not slipstreamed into current software loaded image of PC.
I prefer to slipstream into OS of your choice ISO then burn or load to USB.
Then the OS is useable to load on any PC with all updates till the time of creation.
You can even choose to leave out Optional's or add IE 11.

The sysprep method results in a hardware independent install.wim just like the slipstream method, but it allows much more control over customization. I've already done some tests and as far as I can tell it works great; I'm just fishing for others' experiences.

As far as I can tell the sysprep method works exactly as advertised. Starting with a clean install, I applied most updates thru Windows Update, installed 7-zip, a custom keymap (because I'm a lunatic and learned to touch type on Carpalx), WMF 4, and made some non-user-specific registry tweaks. I was able to use the resulting install.wim to install to a completely different set of hardware.

I suppose I'll go ahead and mark this solved.
