I have the x64 7264 build now, thinking of trying it, but since I won't be able to activate it, I'm thinking of having it installed alongside my other x88 7260 build that I have, is that possible? it would give me a chance to try my first x64 windows 7 build. but worried that it will curropt my existing windows 7 installation. how can I install it without wiping out my current windows 7 installation?

Maybe:
  • In your current Win7 install, resize your Win7 partition to allow for creating a new partion of at least 20GB
  • Create a new partition into which you will install the 7264
  • Reboot your computer using the 7264 DVD
  • Point your install effort to the new partition as the target
  • Proceed as normal
When you finish the install and do a reboot, you should be presented, by the boot manager, with a selection of installs into which to boot.

Yes you can because you can re-arm (reset it for 30 more days) three times.

Follow these steps to install W7 7264 x64 alongside W7 7260 x86:

1. Create a new partition. Windows 7 has a great tool for this called disk management. Just type disk in the start menu search and click on the link "Create and format hard disk partitions." Make sure it's big enough to hold the OS and any programs or files you want to test (at least 15GB or bigger). Go here for more info on creating partitions with Disk Management.

2. Install W7 7264 x64 onto that partition from your Windows 7 7264 x64 DVD.

3. Have fun with W7 7264! You'll also have your old 7260 build on their as well.

Note: When you boot up Windows in this format you will see a boot menu with the choices of Windows 7 or Windows 7. Since 7264 is the most recent install it will be on top, 7260 will be on the bottom.
