Install WIN 7 Ultimate

Hi everybody,
I just bought win 7 ultimate and want to do very clean install for it, my laptop has win vista preinstalled,the hard drive has to partitions and i shrink one of it so now it has 3 partitions, the question is..... Do i have to remove the partition's or i can do format when I'm installing win 7 and that's will delete every thing, and what to do if i want to get on to partitions only?

IF you dont need any data in that partition, win 7 can and will take care of it during the install. If you need the data you can consider doing a dual boot. Vista and win 7

You can format during installation and that will delete everything.

The cleanest possible install is to boot from the installer, select Custom, then Advanced drive tools to Delete all, create New, and Format before installing.

A dual boot is complicated to get out off, and we are seeing massive numbers of users wanting to get out of them within days of dual booting. Each case is it's own puzzle. We can help you, though.

Your recovery partition can be used to create Recovery Disks for your Vista factory installation. I would make these disks to keep before deleting that partition since in rare cases the manufacturer requires the factory installation to service hardware warranty.

If you have your files backed up, and your program installers gathered, then consider deleting the entire disk, creating new partition(s), and formatting using the Custom install after booting the installer.

When you are satisfied with your completed Win7 installation, type "backup" into start box and create a backup image to store externally (and on a primary formatted partition if you want) which can be used to reimage your HD or a replacement in 15 minutes flawlessly, so that reinstalls will never again be necessary.

The partition is the recovery disk for use if your toshiba crashes. Formatting the drive out may void any warranty you have remaining. If you feel confident that you no longer need any recovery then go ahead and do the full install. OS 7 will format and wipe clean any data you have remaining so backup any important data you may wish to keep.

Well, it depends how you look at it. It doesn't matter if you will remove your Vista. If for some reason in future you will need to restore your computer back to factory settings it will take away your Windows 7 and you will have back Vista in the state when you have bought your computer.

That recovery, if like Dell, is uesed if you have a problem. It can restore your computer to factory state, just like when you just bought it. If you do not delete it, does not function after new installation, anyway. So go ahead and delete it.
I have a dell one good thing, they have a d partition, but also give DVD, to restore to factory condition.

Toshiba lets to restore straight from partition so long its intact. You need to press and hold F8 and put on computer at the same time, then Advanced Boot Options Menu will be displayed and then you can restore computer even if you have Windows 7 on it. Another option is to make recovery DVD. You can choose how you like most.

If you are unable to make recovery disks from the recovery partition before deleting it, then you can order them if ever needed from your manufacturer.

The only reason you should ever need Vista recov disks is if you want to restore it to factory condition to sell yet keep your Win7, or in the rare case the manufacturer requires it for servicing hardware warranty - few do, but you can ask them.

Many tech enthusiasts never even use recovery disks but prefer to use a clean copy of Vista (you could borrow) for reinstalls.

So there are options if you dont' keep Vista disks on hand. But with Windows 7, for most people there is no looking back - especially at Vista.
