Solved Install windows - updates fail/hang, etc

Hi

I've tried installing win 7 twice now but the windows updates won't install properly and other problems occur like check disk not working or driver updates hanging. System restore has now left my computer practically nonfunctional.

Sounds like youve got a corrupt install, where did you get your W7 disk.

I can't remember. At some pc shop. But it's a couple of years old now. Installed fine in the past

Windows update ran. Installed some updates. Some failed.

and I did a sfc scan. Found corrupt files. My computer's returned to functioning. Drivers are updating again.

I see this in your log. Try activating Windows 7. Then see how the updates go.
When Windows 7 updates work it could still take from 5 hours up to 48 hours for.

I've had the same problem on the last two Windows 7 clean installs I did. Windows Update just hung. I waited it out, rebooting several times working on other things, like device drivers and eventually I got the automatic Windows Updates. I don't remember how many maybe 40 to 70, but after that Windows Update worked normally.

@ Bear - Activation complete. I managed to find a Microsoft fix for windows updates. My updates seem to be working at the moment. Will post if I encounter any problems. Thanks for your help

@ Ztruker - It's odd 'cause I never really had a problem with it in the past. Perhaps windows 7 has become too overloaded with updates and service packs or something.

When everything on your end is working properly it could still take from 6 to 48 hours for all 200 + updates. Let us know how long it takes for your system.

Windows update says I'm up to date now. I think it took a few hours (like maybe 3 or 4) to download the 200 bulk once it stopped hanging. Then there were still some odd updates popping up which I installed.
