Installation - Feeling Lost

Unfortunately, the XP I have installed is a bootleg version so as expected, it won't allow me to upgrade to the latest SP.

Call me a stickler for rules, but if your XP is not legal and your Win 7 seems as though it is not legal, maybe you could invest in a copy of Win 7 and you might not have as much trouble...........

She provided a link at Old Dominion University where she says she got her license: ODU Computer Science

I'm not sure I've ever helped anyone here who provided more background on exactly where they got their Windows 7.

Call me naive. I only wonder why she paid $15 when the link says it is free to students?

As to the XP bootleg, it is not germane since her college issues full retail versions.

I didn't download it from that site, I only got my serial from there. The school burned the DVD installation. As to why I gave so much detail on how I got it... I really don't know why myself haha.

I'm thinking about just getting a DVD drive if I don't get it working from the USB (but being a poor college student, that was my last option lol).
