Hi everyone,

I've installed windows7 everyone so far flawlessly on my desktops at home and now I've come to a specific problem which I cant seem to figure out

The laptop is a BenQ Joybook 6000N with a 1.6 processor, 1.5GB ram and 40gb space.
I have windows 7 ultimate x86 dvd which I've used on my other desktops but when I boot to the external usb cdrom drive for the laptop, it has "Windows is loading files" flashing and flickering at the top of the screen which you can barely make out what it says.
IT seems like a video problem but im unable to plug this laptop into a external monitor to see if it makes a difference and lets me get past that step.
I've also left it for a good 2 hours and it just keeps jerking around and flickers at the top of the screen.
Made a USB bootable image of windows 7 ultimate but the laptop cannot boot to USB unfortunately.
Windows XP runs flawlessly on the laptop and is installed at the moment

I've tried a different windows installation DVD for win7 and it did not help.

Anyone got any ideas or what else I could try?

Thanks guys

Can you install in safe mode? Hit F8 (usually) when booting and select safe mode

I've tried that aswell but its exactly the same unfortunately.
It still comes up with "Windows is loading files . . ." and it just floats around the top right hand corner of the screen then eventually a white bar starts appearing , as if it would load normally horizontally across the screen but it just flickers all over

It looks a lot like a video driver problem, but in a laptop it is a bigger problem. Have you tried BenQ support? Maybe look further for a monitor to plug externally?
Sorry, I am out of more ideas besides that... :(

Do you have an internal optical drive your could try?
Here's another idea: try running setup.exe from within Windows.

Resadz, Welcome to SevenForums, Looked up your laptop and seems it came out with less ram than you show it has. Try taking some out. Windows will install with .500 Good luck to you!

myzr7, it only has a 512mb one stick.
I've put more in (another 1gb) stick to make it 1.5gb and it didnt make a difference.

thanks rsvr85, i will give low res a shot.

Try putting the gigstick in the first RAM position, and the 512 next.

Can you extract the installation files to the XP desktop and attempt to install, to eliminate the installer as cause?

If you can see to steer it to the Custom drive map screen, try to get the video driver into installer to tame that thang. It could even be slipstreamed in using vlite when you extract it to XP to run.

Ran setup.exe from inside Windows XP
Currently copying windows files 35%.
Great success. Lets hope it finishes. will report back.
