I have just tried to install 7048, and it's got passed completed installation but now is just stuck on a blackscreen with the mark on the bottom left of the screen and that's it.

Hello DaveTaylor.

If reboot doesn't work (good point, angryman) , you should try booting with your installation DVD and click on "Repair Computer".

If no automatic repair does any trick, then the solution is:

Click repair computer (still on installation dvd) and press next in all screens until you get to the screen with the options for Startup Repair, System Restore, Command Prompt etc. Chose Command Prompt.

At command prompt, type (exactly like below):

bcdedit /set {default} detecthal yes

and press enter.

Reboot and it should do the trick.

And if none of those work or you keep getting the same black screen - then check your hardware, specifically your video card....

It was myself being a absolute idiot, I forgot my TV was plugged into Port 1 on my gfx card at the time, and as I was watching TV I forgot to check it, it decided after reboot to default across to the TV.
