Installation problems - admin account.

hi all,

this is my first post over here. i have come out with a very weird problem i dont understand. after googling a lot and searching this forum i have realized the account tht i m running is still not the actual admin account but there is a built in hidden admin. but still my question is unanswered.

i have got a few installation problems on my account. (the account tht i made during installation). few softwares like Corel PSP/PS and some other either crashes or dont install at all in this account.(i do right click and run as admin). while i was searching for corels installation problem i came up with the conclusion and made a new account with admin priviliges and the installation is fine and the program runs properly. why is this so? why cant the progs run fine in the original admin account i made. it is very inconvenient to log in another user account for installing. and more so why isnt it happening in the original one??!

even the internet (usb broadband) is not running on the other account i made. (i ll try to check this with my ISP as well)

i hope someone can help me sort this out

There are a billion reasons for this, the most simple answer the orginal Admin accout was corrupt, or some securty was changed by mistake, or or or or or, but you fixed it as we would have suggested. I would delete the other Admin account and use the new one. -WS

and what can possibly the other reasons? what security was changed? i dont have a clue. this is my new laptop... still exploring windows 7.

As I understand it, the hidden account is only available from Professional up.

i dont care about the hidden account. what i really want to know is abt the account i m using.

Run SFC -SCANNOW Command, repeatedly if it finds damaged System Files.

You can also try to Repair the Account by running a Repair Install.

These are the steps to take to try to reverse the corruption in the User Account, or continue using the new Account to see if performance pans out okay.

You mentioned in your very first post that you created a second account with Admin. privilages and it seens to be working just fine. If this so, why do you not just delete the offending account and proceed to enjoy your new laptop?

By the way, since this is a new laptop, did you create a set of Factory Restore DVD's in case of a hard drive failure or serious Windows problems? Very important.

Also, if you could update your system specs in your user control panel that would allow people here to be in a better position to help.

There is no way I could list them all. I have been doing this for 30 years. I have seen things as simple as a file deleted or as complex as total registry corruption. Every case is different. Without having direct access to your machine it would be difficult to figure out what happened.

Besides all of that is irrelevant because you have an Admin account that is working. Just delete the original one and use the new one.

If you are really curious about what may have happened, then I can suggest several books that are very good with all aspects of Windows 7.

1) Microsoft Press – Windows 7 Resource Kit
2) Microsoft Press – Windows 7 Inside Out

Those 2 books will give you a deep understanding of Windows 7. -WS

hey everyone thanks for all of urs suggestions.
right now i m still on my old account since i have loads of files and folder over there. since i m the only one using the laptop then i will see if i really want to delete this account and shift or do it really slowly or use both. i might also try repairing the account as suggested.

Umm, and it would take about 5 minutes to move the stuff from one profile to another.

Easiest method is to open an old User subfolder like Documents, on Organize tab "Select All" then left click hold to drag the entire group to the corresponding User folder in the new account on the Explorer bar along the left side.

Do not release the left click until the Explorer tree stops expanding and it says "Move to Documents."
