Ok so i'll try to make this as clear as possibly, as i'm quite frustrated right now and hopefully someone can help me. I bought the Windows seven upgrade online when the student promo was in place and downloaded the files to my HP laptop. I ran the installation and while it was installing it froze in one spot for several hours so I rebooted my PC. Now when I start my PC there are two options either to rollback to previous operating system or Windows Vista(my previous operating system). So of course I tried the rollback option first but once again it just continues to say it's rolling back but after hours of waiting nothing happens, so I restarted my laptop again.

This time I selected the Windows Vista option and it loads up everything just fine, all my files are still in place. The only problem is whenever I restart my computer it automatically goes to the rollback option and attempts to rollback to vista if I don't select the other option quick enough! This is becoming a huge nuissance.

Not sure If anyone has had a similar problem or If anyone can help me out with this problem or point me in the direction of how to fix this. I just want to go back to Vista and use it normally, after three failed attempts at installing Windows 7 i'm finally throwing in the towel. This same problem happened to me before and I cannot for the life of me remember what I did to fix it!

Hello,

Welcome to 7 Forums.

* Did you try system restore to avoid this problem? If yes, proceed to the next step.

* In this regard, when you restart the computer, Tap F8 key and you would get the boot options. In that run the System repair and you can try repairing the installation, If it has already past the necessary installation of Windows 7, it would try fixing the same. If not, Vista will be repaired.

* If that didn't work, try Clean install of windows 7 instead of upgrading.

* If the issue persists, can you provide the complete system configuration? You can use this to find the system configuration. Speccy - System Information - Free Download
