Installation, wtf?

for some reason beyond my immediate control, windows is CONVINCED that it is currently installing something, even thoiugh it is not. this is a pain in my butt because argo, i can't install anything. if anyone can tell me whats wrong, that'd be great. but otherwise, tell me how to access currently pending installations, or how to clear all installations, i'm willing to take the sacrafice. Thanks everyone!

This may sound stupid but have you tried restarting to clear any processes the computer may be running?

yes, i've had this problem for a while now and only recently found this website. any other suggestions?

Have you run Anti-Virus & Anti-Malware (spyware) programs to see if they find anything that may be trying to install ?
