Hello vert, welcome to Seven Forums!

Before we make any specific recommendations will you please post a snip/screen-shot of the entire disk management drive map with a full description as to which drive/partition is which, so we can see what you have going on as there may be a fairly simple way to resolve the situation.

In the Windows start menu right click computer and click manage, in the left pane of the "Computer Management" window that opens click disk management and post a maximized snip of that.

If you want to add XP as a dual boot to the unallocated space, you have to boot the XP CD and not run it from within Windows 7; have a look at this tutorial at the link below; just be 100% certain that you select the correct space to install XP to or you will over-write Windows 7 and all your data will be lost.

How To Change the Drive Boot Priority in BIOS

If that is what you do, you will have to do 3 separate startup repairs to Windows 7 after the XP installation has completed to get Windows 7 booting again, have a look at this tutorial at the link below and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

If AHCI is not already enabled it is best left as is, don't be concerned with that right now.

Where did you get the XP installation disk and have you successfully used it to install XP before?

Have a look at this.

You likely need SATA controller drivers for XP to be inserted at the F6 prompt during driver-loading phase if you still have floppy support.

If not you'll have to slipstream them into the XP installer: SATA Drivers - Slipstream into Windows XP CD

If you have lost the ability to boot Win7 now and wish instead to repair it, try tapping F8 at startup to get Advanced Boot Options to see if Repair My Computer is there, run Startup Repair repeatedly. If this fails make sure Win7 partition is still marked Active: Partition - Mark as Active then run Startup Repair up to 3 separate times.

If you dont' have Repair console on F8 boot options, then try using your Vista disk to boot into Repair console on second screen, or burn a Win7 Repair CD: System Repair Disc - Create

Thanks for all the great help I'm sure ill fix lol,Will post a update

Hello again.

If this is still how the partition structure looks, I would use diskpart to create an Extended / Logical drive to install XP to, this way you won't have any issues booting to Windows 7 after XP has been installed.

Have a look at Method One of this tutorial at the link below.
