I was trying to clone an SSD (256GB) to a 2TB SATA- both internally connected using NTI Echo Overview - Filter Cloning, Partition Cloning, Smart Cloning of HDD or SSD - Official Site

Needless to say it bombed and there is no real support except via email who knows when.

So now it has modified the boot record to boot up to this stupid program and will not boot to windows-- Using last good known configuration did not work - safe mode will not work - startup repair will not work - system restore will not work. I now have the drive piggy backed on to my system trying to do a previous versions but I do not think that will work. I do not want to do a factory restore for obvious reasons.

Good news- I can still read the disk and all the files/data piggy backed - bad news- I am unable to boot it up on its original system. So I was wondering if there was a way to modify the boot.ini or boot file while the drive is piggy backed.

Any ideas on how to modify the original boot record? I head bcedit was a good tool but the system will not boot up so I can run the command line prompts.

Any ideas?

Hello and welcome jpdepucci now I am not familiar with the cloning system you used but it sounds like a real flop there is a good cloning software but seems too late now.

So just exactly what are you getting on power up - with just the original drive in it - anything at all?

Have a read of this it might be helpful - but not promising only it could give you a few ideas to start with.
