installed office 2007, but can't install Outlook? and lost "contacts"

Installed office 2007, trying to update and keep my 2003 files...
but...

I don't want to give Outlook access to my email
I just want to access calendar and contacts

it seems I cannot do that without giving Outlook my password

there must be a way

I never used Outlook email in Office 2003...but I had access to the extensive contact information I set up and to the calendar....

I can't believe my contacts are gone...

can't I access them from a different Office software?

Do you have 2 versions of Office on your computer being Office 2003 & 2007?. If so you can only run one version of Outlook & that has to be the 2007 version, so if you have Outlook 2003 installed you will have to uninstall it. Try typing this in the Search Box under the Start button. The Drive most probably C: username is self explanatory. This should get you to those files.

drive:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook.

If you have these files protected with a password word you will have to supply it, if you want access.

I hoped to run both, to find out if 2007 would open without corrupting files... never given the choice... 2007 took over
so far, only a few unimportant items lost to not opening.

Yes, the later version of Outlook will take over & that's the reason you cannot successfully run 2 versions of Outlook on the one computer.
