Hi all, forgive me for intruding, but I'm looking for any good advise with regards to installing W7 into a Virtual PC: Virtual Machine with its Virtual Hard Drive.

Did my first install Sat/Sun (all nighter), but couldn't believe how easy it was. However problems started when I attached the VM to my network - I sense this was my fault, in not attaching the VM Device from my original Network, and also forgot to give the VM its proper workgroup name, but I learnt some lessons I guess.

Next problem came when I tried to import my Favorites and Feed Folders, using Live Essentials (installing that was also problematic). Ended up the only way to achieve this was via Live Sync, which didn't work on the feeds folder.

Then all the problems of the Network started, first couldn't get the Network Printer to work, then, and despite the task bar saying the Network had Local and Internet Access, couldn't access the Internet , or anything else. So after a shutdown, the VM refused to start again, even though W7 tried all shorts of recovery atempts.

So I' m just going to start my second install, and make sure I don't make the same mistakes, but if anyone has any tips I would much appreciate it.

By the way, I'm actual quite impressed so far.

Kind regards, Algypalgy.

Ps. Forgot, ZoneAlarm Free Firewall, would only instaall in Vista Combatibility Mode.

Many thanks smarteyeball, haven't had a chance to read it yet, but I'm sure it will help. Also thanks for the posting advise, and apologies for responding here again.

Had to ditch my first VM, and start again, now much better, but still have a minor printing problem, but I'll post that to the General Forum later. Also learnt that Homegroup networking tool only works with other W7 OS'es.

Again, many thanks and kind regards, Algypalgy.
