Recently got a little laptop with swivel screen (8.9" display, 1024x600)....has 2GB RAM, 32GB SSD, Atom N2600 cpu, GMA 3600 graphics...

Came without OS installed....

Installed Win 8 first, but then realized that it was problem due to resolution not meeting the minimum requirements of 1024x768 and there was no audio...otherwise worked OK....

So, just installed Win 7....install went OK overall, but now I have 3 problems....

1. Ethernet - Driver Missing

2. WiFi - Not recognized as being present at all...

3. Audio - Have now sound at all....although there are 2 items shown for audio, both listed as High Definition Audio Device with drivers by Microsoft...have checked sound level adjustment...

In System Information window, I see the following under Hardware Resources > Components > Storage > Problem Devices:

Device PNP Device ID

Ethernet Controller PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8136&SUBSYS_012310EC&REV_05\4&30671EC7&00E0

Network Controller PCI\VEN_1814&DEV_539F&SUBSYS_1774103C&REV_00\4&463B520&0&00E1

PS/2 Compatible Mouse ACPI\PNP0F13\4&15E5E88F&0

And Error Code for both Ethernet and Network Controller say 'The drivers for this device are not installed.

Error Code for the PS/2 Mouse says 'This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers.

Any suggestions as to how to get problems solved?

Seems like if I can at least get either ethernet or wifi working then I can get online to search for drivers, etc...

Or is there way to get more info on what specific ethernet or wifi adapters are installed physically, so, that I can research drivers on other computer, download drivers to flash drive and install them that way or ????

Appreciate any and all input!!!

Thanks,

Mark

Have you installed the proper chipset driver?

Check on the OEM manufacturer's web site for all the Windows 7 drivers for your NoteBook.

Plug in the PC by ethernet cable, enable Automatically get recommended drivers and updates for your hardware (Step 3), watch for activity in System Tray connection icon to see if driver loads and network becomes detected to choose.

Then run all rounds of Important and Optional Windows Updates to completion which should provide the wireless driver. If not click on its Driver tab to Automatically find the driver.

If forced to find the wireless driver manually trace it using Device Manager - Finding Unknown Devices - Windows 7 Help Forums which appears to find the wireless driver here: PCI\\VEN_1814&DEV_539F&SUBSYS_1774103C Driver Download

Check on the OEM manufacturer's web site for all the Windows 7 drivers for your NoteBook.

Will try that with the specific component manufacturer's websites....

Did search on finding out more system info and found the PCI Database website, where you can plug in the Vendor and Device codes and get more specific info....

Found out the following:

Audio

Vendor: Via Technologies Device: ALC662

Vendor: Intel Device: Intel Display Audio

Ethernet

Vendor: Realtek Device: 10/100/1000 PCI-E NIC Family

Network

Vendor: Ralink Device: 8136 ? Was odd, search result showed 2 different Broadcom devices

Thanks for all your input....but if as noted above, there's no ethernet working, as Win7 says no driver installed, and it didn't find driver on Win7 install CD, then how can I do this?

Then run all rounds of Important and Optional Windows Updates to completion which should provide the wireless driver. If not click on its Driver tab to Automatically find the driver.

Will try this once I get ethernet working or download drivers to a flash drive on other computer, then install....

Win7 will load the ethernet driver in 90% of cases once you enable Automatically get recommended drivers and updates for your hardware (Step 3). Did you do this?

Otherwise I provided you with the traced Wireless driver to install the latest version.

I would also look on the Support downloads webpage for your model PC for the Win7 drivers for your version. But first install all Important and Optional Windows Updates once you get online.

Yes, I checked as per instructions, and it was already set to Automatically get Recommended Drivers and Updates....so, nothing to change there....

Otherwise I provided you with the traced Wireless driver to install the latest version.

That would be great....

Would normally do that, but this little laptop is from China...so, haven't found the support page for it...probably last time I get one like this... :o

Did you click on the link in my first post where I provided the wireless driver for your Hardware ID?

Just to be sure, with only 2gb RAM and an Atom processor you are using 32 bit Win7, right?
If not Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 with the latest installer for your licensed version from Step 1.

Oops, missed that...doing that now and then will install and report back....

And yes, installed 32 bit Win7 with 2GB RAM and Atom N2600...

Some good news on the WiFi and Ethernet front...
Found the WiFi driver needed at HP driver downloads...installed and voila! now have working wifi....

Then searched around and found the Ethernet driver...installed and voila! now have working ethernet....

So, last item is Audio.....

Any suggestions as to how to get it working...very odd, as it shows that drivers are installed...

Thanks for all the great help so far....

Do you mean the companies that make the specific components (ie, graphics, audio, wifi card, etc...) ?

If so, that's what I've been trying to do this morning....

Thanks.

I'm glad you were able to get online with the wireless adapter I provided you, but you seem to have forgotten what I wrote for you to do next:

Once you get online enable Automatically get recommended drivers and updates for your hardware (Step 3) then run all rounds of Important and Optional Windows Updates, with reboots, then go back and Check for Updates again. This is how Win7 delivers the drivers it wants, performance and security updates.

Afterwards if there are any missing drivers in the Device Manager, import them from the PC or device maker's Support Downloads webpage. There are usually only one or two. If you'll post back their name we can help you find them, tracing them if necessary with Device Manager - Finding Unknown Devices - Windows 7 Help Forums
