Solved Installed Win 7 - Now No Ethernet or WiFi or Audio

I'm glad you were able to get online with the wireless adapter I provided you, but you seem to have forgotten what I wrote for you to do next:

Once you get online enable Automatically get recommended drivers and updates for your hardware (Step 3) then run all rounds of Important and Optional Windows Updates, with reboots, then go back and Check for Updates again. This is how Win7 delivers the drivers it wants, performance and security updates.

Thanks for the input and help....truly appreciate it greatly....

I did enable the updates and some have been installed with reboots...however, I just checked Windows Update again and there is a big load of downloads to go....doing that now....will be interesting to see if this makes any difference to being able to hear some sounds...

Afterwards if there are any missing drivers in the Device Manager, import them from the PC or device maker's Support Downloads webpage. There are usually only one or two. If you'll post back their name we can help you find them, tracing them if necessary with Device Manager - Finding Unknown Devices - Windows 7 Help Forums

As of now, there's no missing drivers in Device Manager....in a way that seems to be part of the audio problem in a sense...the audio drivers installed from Win 76 install are Microsoft drivers as shown in Device Manager...as noted in previous post, I downloaded and installed a VIA Technologies ALC662 driver...but that hasn't helped with getting any sound either.....

Will report back after all the Windows Updates are completed....

Thanks!

If you already have the Sound driver and it won't work then go Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting to run the Sound troubleshooter to find out why.

Will try that again....did it earlier today....it couldn't determine that there was even a problem...it thought it was working....

Meanwhile, device 'died' on me....battery went too low...thought AC charger was plugged in OK, but apparently not...so, need to charge it up a bit and keep going....

If the Troubleshooter doesn't resolve it, reinstall the Sound driver by uninstalling and rebooting.

If that fails, uninstall the Sound driver and let Device Manager delete the software when asked. Then run Windows Updates again to see what driver it provides. Have the sound driver backed up in your Downloads.

Tried this....but still no sound....

Windows Updates just provides the same driver as before....so, still no sound.....

Let WIn7 decide the drivers it wants - its a driver-complete OS. Did you enable Automatically get recommended drivers and updates for your hardware (Step 3) then run all rounds of Important and Optional Updates. Try again.

Understand...and did that....did several rounds of updates...over 100 installed!....

Do you know the Sound devices make/model to try importing it from the maker's Support Downloads webpage. If in doubt trace it in Device Manager - Finding Unknown Devices - Windows 7 Help Forums using Hardware Identification

Seems to be a VIA Technologies ALC662...

Tried searching on that and downloaded driver file for it....but when I tried to install it, got message that it wasn't the right driver for the system...

Will try searching for driver again....

Thanks.
