Beating my head against the wall here on this one to no avail. Trying to clean install win7 RC 7100 x64 on the machine in my signature and it won't let me get past the load drivers page. What drivers could it possibly need? Vista installer needed my RAID driver on this same machine but was happy to skip it and not load any drivers if I just disabled RAID.

Chipset on motherboard is Intel G33 and ICH9R

Tried so far:
-I pulled out all my hard drives except my raptor
-Disabled RAID in the BIOS
-Pulled out my memory card reader
-Disabled AHCI in the BIOS

Even if I try an upgrade install that fails on the starting services, service start up failed please reboot only to do it again.

Originally working with that thread, hoping for some fresh insight on this board.
Win7 x64 on ICH9R? - Storageforum

I learned something.

Took a fresh hard drive and did a clean install of vista on it (needed the F6 ICH9R drivers) and left RAID on and everything, no problem. Then attempted win7 upgrade, similar problem but I ran into a little more info, picture below.

ITE driver? What the hell, Vista has that built in. Intel doesn't have anything listed for Vista or win7 ITE, because it is supposed to be built in I would guess. I tried feeding it the XP x64 ITE driver for the heck of it but of course it didn't like that either. I know there are other people running the same chipset out ther with win7...

I got the ITE8211 x64 driver cab from the windows update catalog but win7 won't touch it as it claims it isn't signed.

Fixed. The vista 64 ITE driver from the Taiwan Integrated Technology site did it. This isn't posted anywhere else that I can tell. I think anyone else with ITE8211 or even ITE8212 will be searching for this thread.

Win7 did not need the ICH9R driver during a clean install.

Disabling PATA or disconnecting the drives wasn't exactly an option when that's the drive I need to boot the DVD.

Thanks in advance and merry christmas

and let me add that it could be useful in windows 7 32 bits too, right?

I am wondering why you disabled AHCI in BIOS when it is preferred SATA setting for Win7?

Glad you found your drivers.

Hi, it seems you know about these problems, i think the link MaxBurn put here about the ite8211 drivers must work for any motherboard, can you tell me if i'm right?

Only if you have the same mobo. Looking at yours, the support stops around 2004-2005.

Fill out your system specs so we can help you better.

What happens exactly when you try to boot the Win7 installer and do a custom install? Exact error wording?

Enter BIOS setup by tapping f-key given at bootup, look at what SATA controller is set at?

ITE8211 is a PATA chipset and everything else I did in troubleshooting was to find what the problem was because I knew it was storage related. If you have ITE8211 and can't get past the storage/select hard drive screen in the 7 installer this is likely to fix it regardless of what motherboard it is. If you don't have any PATA devices you could maybe turn off PATA in the BIOS if you can. If you don't have ITE8211 then this thread isn't what you are looking for.

If you have Intel ICH9R driver, then I would enable the AHCI function in the BIOS. Windows 7 runs a little better in AHCI because then you can utilize the NCQ feature. Native Command Queing - which speeds up the hard drive seek functions.

If you have a floppy drive or a flash thumb drive you can load the files from the attached RAR file and do the Load Driver function from the install screen of windows 7. You don't need to press F6 necessarily. Just load the files onto a floppy disk, minus the folder or to a thumb drive and install them prior to installing Windows 7. Then your AHCI driver is loaded and ready to go.

Just do a "clean install" your Windows 7 will run much better when do the clean install process. If you have an "Upgrade" version of the Windows 7 OS, you can STILL do a clean install. Many people have done it.

If you are not sure how to do it check out this tutorial: Clean Install Windows 7 with Upgrade Media

Hi, I have now a GA-G31M-ES2C with a Western Digital SATA HDD 500 GB and I am trying to install Windows 7 but the installation tells me that there is no HDD to install windows.
If I try to install the driver from ITE, it installs the driver but the HDD can't be seen anyway.
