I would back up my data and format both partitions just to be on the safe side.. Your going to be doing a clean install and the 64bit file system will not be using the 32bit data anyway... You are going to be re-installing your programs, so what would you gain by keeping your data files??

If you have in excess of 20 Gb free on one of the drives (50 Gb probably better) shrink the volume to make a new partition, activate the partition, format it and load Windows 7 there and your other OS and data files stay as they were except for the drive space allocated to make the W7 partition.

thanks for all your postings,

finally i had to format and delete and the create agin my partitions inorder to make it work (as a clean install) , because every other method kept on failing resolting with a broken installation.(dont use upgrade or the other option- go for clean install only)
