Installing drivers in non-functioning Windows 7 installation?

I would like to know if there is a way to install drivers into a Windows 7 installation which is unable to boot to desktop while in safe mode?

I am working on a laptop for a co-worker (an HP G60-127NR which ran Vista) which suffered a hard drive failure, I have the hard drive from his other laptop, an ASUS U52F (which was the victim of a power surge), which has the Windows 7 installation in question. Of course the drivers to run the two systems are completely different, and normally when I'm in this situation with desktops I'll just install the new drivers in safe mode, but when I log in in safe mode I get a BSOD, I expect this is more of the same, inadequate driver support, and as above I was wondering if there might be another way for me to install the drivers?

I'll try to get the crash information later though, have to go to work ATM. just hoping to get a new angle to go at this for when I get back. thx.

Yes, as I understand it he had just plugged it in when lightning struck and the power went out. At any rate the ASUS doesn't show any signs of life. The HP though, as I said, just needs a working OS at this point.
