Installing Multiple Monitors

I have just purchased two external 23 inch monitors. I have Windows 7 Professional Operating System (64 bit). I am attempting to determine what I will need to correctly install the extra two monitors to my Dell Vostro laptop.

I have an HDMI and a VGA output. I'm not sure what all I need to make the two monitors show dual/different screens. For example I would like to utilize one screen for filling in my reports and the other to read the data I'm inputting.

Any help/tutorial links would be appreciated.

You need to know how to Set Main Display and how to Change the Presentation Mode, for a multi-monitor setup.

Your laptop might support two different screens on two different monitors (multiple monitor mode) or it might only support a single screen to be displayed on two different monitors (clone monitor mode). The way to tell is on Item #2 on the first link provided by Iko22, you will see a line called "multiple monitors". See if it has an option to "extend these displays". If so, select it to enable multiple monitor mode.
