Hello,

My printer head went out on my Canon and money being tight I can't afford a new printer head or printer. My friend gave me a HP 845c printer and install disc for XP. He said it came with a Vista disc but he couldn't remember what he did with it.

I found some info on the drivers here.

http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/1734-installing-hp-deskjet-845c-windows7.html

My question is do I plug in the printer and let windows find it and install the driver I got from Windows Update Catalog or do I insert the XP disc and update afterwards [assuming option 2 even works]?

Thanks in advance.

Option 1 would be best. I wouldn't suggest installing the XP Drivers.

Darician, Thanks for the reply.

That was what I was thinking. I'm glad you confirmed it. I did option 1 and all went well.

On a side note this prints horribly, but beggars can't be choosers.

Thanks again.

A new issue arose this morning.

When I started my PC I heard the customary beeps then the PC shut down waited a couple of seconds and tried to boot again. This happened 3 times, so I held in the power button and powered down. I disconnected the printer and it restarted fine. I haven't plugged the printer back in yet.

Any ideas what may be causing this?

Thanks,

Tye
