Installing on one of two internal hard drives

Let me say first that I am not dual booting. I have a 250gb Internal SATA drive, and a 800gb internal SATA drive. Both hooked up and ready to go.

What I want to do, and am unsure if it's possible, is to install Windows 7 64bit on the 250gb drive, and thats IT. I want to boot from that drive, but everything else I want to go onto the 800gb drive.

I haven't done this yet... but I get the feeling that if I were, when it boots from the 250, things that I download and install would always try and add themselves there. And I dread of having to manually move downloaded files and redirect installed programs every time.

Any help Seven forums?

Hello Rokku, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Right after you do a clean install of Windows 7 to your 250GB drive, and before installing anything else, you could use the tutorial below to change the default location of both the C:\Program Files (x86)and C:\Program Filesfolders to be on the 800GB drive by default instead.

These may help with this as well.

Hope this helps,

Hello Rokku, welcome to Seven Forums!

To save yourself potential boot issues; only have the Hard Disk Drive that you want to install Windows 7 to connected to the #1 SATA port of the motherboard, then when Windows 7 is installed and booting good, power down the PC and connect the second HDD data cable to the mobo and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.
