I just downloaded windows 7 beta using my sisters laptop and I put it onto a DVD-r and I put it into my desktop which is running Ubuntu 9.04 and restarted it and it took about a minute to try and boot from the disc but it just loads up ubuntu.

I really don't know what to do :/

You need to go into bios to force/enable booting from dvd. Its a different key combo on various machines. Often its f12. that should load the dvd if it is bootible.

Hope this helps

Hi Adnrw, and welcome to seven forums

when booting you should have the option on screen to boot into bios. Its sometimes f12, and then you can make the dvd as the number one boot device.

Thanks. c:

I can't see any options on screen.
When would it come up?
'cause it shows me three screens.

When booting the first screen where it says your computer mfr (like dell, hp, etc) there you can hit f-12. failing that when booting you can try hitting the "d" key it will sometimes force the boot from dvd.

That screen only stays there for a second or two.
I tried just repetidly pressing f12 when I restarted it and it did nothing.
Aslo hitting the "d" key does nothing

Thats possible. where did you get the iso? what did you use to burn it? did you burn the files and folders, or the single iso file?

You might want to burn it again. If you want you can check the hash'es to make sure your file and the source are exactly the same.

On the ms site they will have the hash value. You can download hash tab app and right click the iso file when you dl'ed it. It will give you a hash value. compare that to the hash on MS. if they are the same the ISO is identical. It should look like this
