Installing Outlook 2010

I am planning to install Outlook 2010 on my XP laptop. I currently have Office 2003 Basic installed. I only want to update Outlook since Outlook 2003 dosen't really work that well. Also I want to update my main computer which has Office 2007. The OS is Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. I would just be updating Outlook also on this computer. Would this cause any problems with the other office programs on 2003 and 2007? Also can I sync Outlook between the two computers? I am not able to that now? Thanks in advance.

Please note if you are connecting to Exchange 5.5 or Exchange 2000 there is no support in Outlook 2010 for them.

Additionally, if you are only updating Outlook (not sure why, on 64-bit 2010 runs better), you should only be buying the standalone Outlook 2010 software, in which case I don't think there's any way it COULD interfere with the other Office programs.

1. If Outlook 2003 isn't working too well, you should get that problem sorted out before upgrading.
2. It shouldn't cause any problems, but I always prefer to have all apps at the same level.
3. You can sync between two computers, but not easily and not without buying additional software, assuming you are using POP3. If you really need to do this, you should move your mail account to a hosted exchange-like service, or start using IMAP.

I have downloaded the trial version of home and business. are you allowed to run the program on two computers? On my main computer which is Windows 7 I would updating from Professional Office 2007. Because of cost I can't upgrade to 2010 Pro. One question I like Publisher 2007 but it is not part of Home and Business, can I just leave Publisher or reinstall just Publisher 2007?
Also having sync problems with Outlook 2010, I am getting sync errors and also getting error message on can't read attachment 14. I am getting email. Another problem is between my laptop and

A trial version can be installed on as many computers as you want, but it will eventually time out. You could install only the parts of Office 2007 you want, and then follow it up with an install of your Office 2010 version.

You re-asked the same question about your e-mail without giving the most crucial and necessary detail. How is your e-mail currently configured? POP3, IMAP, or Exchange? What service do you use for your e-mail? Unless you use IMAP or Exchange, you aren't going to be syncing them easily. You can with a POP3 account, but you would have to configure Outlook to leave a copy of the e-mails on the server. It is cumbersome, but it works. It also doesn't sync all messages, either, so I would switch to IMAP or find a web-based service, like Gmail to handle your existing accounts.

IMAP would be the way to go for the e-mails. My primary personal e-mail account is IMAP as well. I use Windows Live Mail, and log in with a Live account (free). This way, when I check my e-mail on any one of three computers, I have access to all e-mail. Because I logged in with a Live account as well, my contacts and calendar are synced. I'd prefer to use Outlook for this, but I can't seem to get the syncing through Live to work...so I stuck with Live Mail.

I am another problem, I am trying to install the trial version on my desktop, windows 7 64 bit. I downloaded twice and still getting this error message. This product must be installed to Q. Make sure you have a enough space. Q is not a hard drive but a removable disk. Thanks in advance. John

Do you really have enough space on Q? Microsoft installs typically uncompress all the files then do the install and then do a clean up. So if the install is 350meg then you will need something like 350meg x 3 to do the install. It will not take that total space when done but that amount is needed to do the install.

make sure you grab the latest version of the outlook connector Download details: Outlook Hotmail Connector it's seamless here, though there were some issues with the Beta version

Also unless you run huge access databases or excel sheets the 32bit office 2010 is a lot more compatible than the x64 - even on a 64 bit win7
