Hi,

I'm trying to install Virtual PC but it keeps on searching for updates for ever. I kept my laptop on for about 8 hours but still its searching for updates.

I'm running a HP Pavilion DV7-4040ED with windows 7 X64 installed.

Hopefully someone can help me out.

Are you saying that the Windows session in the virtual PC is what keeps searching for updates? Or is it the main Windows session installed on the computer?

In either case, you should be able to cancel the update search. Or go to Device Manager, and stop the Windows Update service. Worst comes to worst, kill it via Task Manager.

If the problem is occurring in the virtual machine, then turn off the network connection on the virtual machine. That is equivalent to unplugging the Ethernet cable.
