Installing Win 7 and XP on seperate drives

CD/DVD Drive problems in both Win 7 & XP

Ok I have Win XP on a ide drive (still use)
I bought Win7 and installed on a seperate drive (sata)
I also Have a 1TB Storage drive for media, files etc... (sata)

Now how do I do a dual boot with what operating system I want to start with
Currently, I am disconnecting one of the drives from inside the case to use either Xp or 7.

As I know when using XP it says C Drive
and the same for Win7 when Im using that...

Think it will crash or fail to install as they both say C Drive where the O.S. is.

Ok.I got it using Easy BCD..with no issues apart from a major one now!

I have 4 Sata connections on mobo
1-Data Drive for files / media (1TB)
2-Win 7 (320Gb)
3-DVDRW Drive
4-Blank

on iDE cable - is Win XP



Now upon startup where it asks wither I want 7 or XP I can open/eject the drive but when either
OS Starts and is ready to use ...my drive sticks ...cant open screen freezes!

Tried in 4th Sata connection and also other drive and same thing happens!

Mobo specs are : MCP6P M2+
4GB Memory

The cleanest method is to boot via the BIOS, setting preferred HD to boot first in BIOS setup, then boot the other OS HD using one-time BIOS BOot Menu key given on first boot screen.

But since you installed Easy to Dual Boot them it has apparently caused some problems which will need repair.

Unplug all other HD's except Win7, swap data cable for DISK0 to it, set it to boot in BIOS setup after DVD drive.

Boot the Win7 DVD System Recovery Options or System Repair Disk, access Command Line to mark Win7 partition Active: Partition - Mark as Active (Method Two)

Close Command Box, choose from Recovery Tools list to Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times with reboots until Win7 starts.

Now power down to plug back in XP HD to DISK1 cable, boot up and tap the F-key given on first screen for BIOS one-time Boot Menu, see if XP HD can be triggered to boot.

If so power down to plug back in the other HD's and leave it booting via this method.

If not post back a screenshot of your maximized Disk Mgmt drive map with listings, using Snipping Tool in Start Menu. We will give you the steps to correctly configure the Dual Boot without interference.
