Solved Installing Win 7 as a replacement OS on a PC presently using Ubuntu

Hello, everybody,

First thread. Hope it's in the right place. Want to install Win 7 HP 64-bit OS Full Version on pc using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.*No longer need Ubuntu. It's OS partition uses the whole hard drive. Drive formatted. *Can I install Windows with this partition and formatting? Or do I have to start from scratch, erase the hard drive and use FDISK.EXE and FORMAT.COM before installing?

Any help would be appreciated.

When you do the windows install, there is a step to select manual disk selection/preparation. Just do that and then you can delete the 2-3 linux partitions that may be on there (you may have a swap or other partition on there besides the main ext formatted partition). You can then, repartition and let windows continue install from there...
